Experience
I began my undergraduate studies at Hartnell Community College. There, I earned an NSF-S-STEM Super Nova Scholarship. I then transferred to the University of California Santa Cruz to earn my bachelor's degree in applied physics. Next, I'm planning to earn a master's degree in education in order to teach high school physics. In the future, I would like to pursue a Ph.D. in educational research. I have a wide variety of experiences as an educator. I've served as a supplementary instructor at a community college, tutored college students in upper-level math and science courses, coached a nationally-ranked cheerleading squad, and taught algebra and science to middle schoolers. As a tutor, I prefer to guide a student toward answers, not just give them the answers. I work with the student to discover the ways in which he or she learns best, and I apply that knowledge when I choose my teaching techniques. I am most enthusiastic about tutoring students in algebra, as it is the keystone to all STEM-related subjects. I'm also able to tutor students of all ages in calculus, differential equations, trigonometry, physics, and advanced courses like AP Calculus AB and BC. In my free time, I enjoy drawing and taking photographs.
